Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to Mutamayyiz: Journal of Islamic Studies undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure academic quality, originality, and relevance to the journal’s focus and scope. Upon submission, each manuscript is first evaluated by the editorial team to assess its suitability, completeness, and compliance with the journal’s author guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet the basic requirements may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected at this stage.
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are then sent to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. The identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process to maintain objectivity and fairness. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on several criteria, including originality, methodological rigor, clarity of analysis, contribution to the field, and relevance to Islamic studies.
Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editor will make one of the following decisions: accept the manuscript, accept with minor revisions, request major revisions, or reject the manuscript. Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with the reviewers’ comments and resubmit them within the specified timeframe. The revised manuscript may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation if necessary.
The entire review process typically takes approximately 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the responsiveness of reviewers and authors. The editorial board maintains strict confidentiality throughout the process and is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics.
